Our research team is made up of students and faculty at the Community College of Aurora (Colorado USA). We are a non-profit group working jointly with the biotech department of the college in a joint research effort. Our goal is to teach the student how research is carried out in an industrial type setting. We bring the student through the entire process, from literature review, synthesis, isolation, and characterization of novel molecules, to testing those molecules for biological activity. Our goal is to give the student some tangible, real world skills that they can use in the future.
We work on a limited budget and most of the students and faculty do not get paid for the research. We offer support as work-study if the student qualifies for financial aid. We are solely dependent upon support from the chemistry department, grants, and donations. If you would like to donate to the Fluorine Research Group, please send us an e-mail (cchardwick@yahoo.com). All donated funds, equipment, time and effort, data, lab notebooks, patents, etc.. become exclusive property of the Community College of Aurora.
