About Us and Our Umbrella Cockatoo!
Hello Everyone! My name is Chris Hardwick and I'm the owner and creator of this website. I've been interested in birds for over 20 years and have bred canaries and lovebirds. I am no longer in the breeding business and only keep a few birds as pets. I originally wanted to get an umbrella cockatoo until I did my research and developed this website. Now I believe that the umbrella cockatoo should be left to the experts! Since this decision, I've decided to raise white homing pigeons, a much easier bird to breed (and to sell) with much less care required. I currently live in Baily Colorado in the Rocky Mountains with my beautiful wife, three dogs, six chickens, three canaries, four lovebirds, five white homing pigeons, and one cockatiel. I am in the process of building an outdoor aviary for my homing pigeons. The aviary should be complete by the fall of 2007 (see my 'Outdoor Aviary' link at the top of the page).

MEET THE FAMILY!

Here are a few photos of my bird room and my birds. It's actually a bird/dog/weight room! As you can see, I don't have many cages. I used to breed canaries and have a lot more cages but have since downsized. This allows me to provide better quality attention to my birds and makes keeping birds more enjoyable. Breeding is fun and entertaining but it is a lot of work! Right now I have birds in only five cages (the white cages on the rack against the wall). I do have one pair of lovebirds in a breeding box/cage just to keep things exciting!

Here's a photo of my five cages with birds. My cockatiel is in the top cage and my canaries and lovebirds are in the other cages.

Here's a photo of 'B-Flat', my female cockatiel.

Here are two female canaries left over from my canary breeding days. The yellow one on top I named 'Angel' and the other one is 'Vicky'.

Here's my other female canary, named 'Lucy'.

Here are two of my lovebirds. The one on the top is 'Lucky'. I named him that because I got them from a fellow freecycler who didn't want them and I was lucky to get him! The other one is a baby that I raised myself, named 'Abel' (son of Adam and Eve).

Here's my male breeder named 'Adam', father of 'Abel'.

And this bashful beauty is 'Eve' hiding in her nesting box.

It is my hope that you enjoy this website and gain some valuable insight into the Umbrella Cockatoo lifestyle. God Bless!

"So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the water teems, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good!"
