The Natural History of the Umbrella Cockatoo
The Mollucan Islands, Highlighted in Green The Umbrella Cockatoo (otherwise known as the 'White Cockatoo') originates from the Mollucan Islands in Indonesia (the islands of Halmahera, Bacan, Ternate, Tidore, Kasiruta and Mandiole in North Maluku, Indonesia). These islands are located just North of Australia and South of the Philippines. This bird is considered a protected species, making the export, import and trade of wild-caught birds illegal.
